Maruti Suzuki S-Cross crosses the 1,00,000 Cumulative Sales Mark

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, thanks to its muscles appeal coupled with superior handling, has crossed the coveted 1,00,000 sales mark in India. The highlights on the 2017 facelift version include speed alert system, rear parking sensors, and passenger seat belt reminder as standard features across all variants of the brand. Reportedly, the S-Cross was the first model from the Maruti Suzuki factory to be sold exclusively via the flagship Nexa Outlets.

R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki thanked S-Cross customers for their love and great response. In the last year, the S-Cross has gained 16% market share in its segment. It, however, remains second by some distance to its sibling Creta which has till now recorded cumulative sales figure of 3,00,000 units since launch. However, S-Cross success further cements the increasing stake of Maruti Suzuki in premium segments too.

The S-Cross does not have an AMT option and is powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine which makes 90 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Transmission duties rest on a 5-speed manual gearbox. Standard safety features on the S-Cross include ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat mounts at the rear.

The price tag for S-cross starts with Rs 8.85 lakh for the base Sigma trim. It goes up to Rs 11.45 lakh for top-spec Alpha variant. On Indian Roads, it locks horn with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. Its future rivals include the soon to be released Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks.
