After launching the much awaited Baleno, Maruti Suzuki is going to offer its famous Vitara SUV (codenamed as YBA) in India. The company is planning to bring the model by next year in the month of April. The official debut of this vehicle will take place at the upcoming 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be priced under the range of INR 10 Lacs and will be made available for sale in the Nexa Showrooms. With this new entrant, the automaker is aiming at snatching away the positions held by Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster in the SUV segment.

The XA Alpha concept that was displayed at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo will underpin the Vitara model. However, the design cues will be inspired from iV-4 concept that made its appearance at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. From outside, it will feature elements like sweptback headlamps, body-colored bumpers, mesh grille, prominent wheel arches, raking windscreen and a floating C-Pillars. From inside, it will resemble to the newly launched Baleno that could include features like reverse parking camera, start/stop button, touchscreen infotainment system, ABS, keyless entry and much more.

The powertrain configuration will be borrowed from Ciaz that includes a 1.4 litre VVT petrol and a 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel unit. The former develops maximum output of 83.11 Bhp and 115Nm of peak torque, whereas the latter pumps out 89Bhp/200Nm of output. For transmission, there will be a manual as well as a CVT facility. An additional option of a 1.6 litre MultiJet motor that does duty on the S-Cross could also make its way under the hood of Vitara.
