The successor of the Mercedes GLK, GLC is set to be launched in the Indian market in the second half of next year with a new design philosophy and more efficacious engine specifications as compared to its predecessor. This vehicle has mainly been developed for the right hand side purpose, where the customers need some changes over the old one to take a pleasure of new features. It can fill the gap between the Mercedes GLA and the upcoming M Class successor aka Mercedes GLE. Internationally, the SUV is available in petrol as well as in diesel variants, powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder units.
The GLC includes total three versions, such as GLC 220 d, GLC 250 d and GLC 250 petrol producing the outputs of 170 hp with 400 Nm, 204 hp along 500 Nm and 211 hp, 350 Nm, respectively. All are paired to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and the 4MATIC AWD system. Reportedly, Its RWD variant will be introduced at the cheapest price with regard to other trims globally as well as it's also expected to be launched in India as the base model.Interestingly, the Air Body Control will be offered as an optional feature.
About two years ago, Mr. Eberhard gave the confirmation to IAB that the Mercedes GLC will be arriving in the right hand drive markets, including India. He said, “If you see the SUV lineup of Mercedes Benz, it starts from the G Wagen, GL, ML and then the GLA. Between the ML and GLA, there’s quite a gap where the GLC would fit perfectly. Yes, I can confirm that the right-hand-drive version of GLC will come to India”.
