MG bought the unused Halol (Gujarat ) manufacturing plant in around September 2017. At that time Halol production plant was recently shut down by General Motors. The fact that the plant was recently closed meant that the production facility needed little retooling. The production facility was up and running in no time. This drove the preponement and enabled the carmaker to sell its cars ahead of its set target.
As per reports, the first in the line of offerings from the carmaker for Indian car lovers is a compact SUV named MG ZS. The SUV made its global premiere and subsequent launch in China in the year 2017. Later same year it was introduced in Thailand, UK, and Australia. In its segment, the compact SUV will lock horns with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, and the two Renault offerings, the Duster and the Captur.
