MG ZS EV launched starting at Rs 20.88 lakh in India

British automaker MG Motors (Morris Garages) has launched its first electric SUV ZS EV in India today. The MG ZS EV has been launched in two variants Excite and Exclusive, the new electric SUV range of cars will be currently available for sale in 5 cities i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. The MG ZS EV features an IP6 lithium-ion battery pack of 44.5kWh capacity. That makes it capable to generate 143hp power and 353NM torque. As per official details, the company claims that this car will give a range of 340km in a single charge. The battery can be charged up to 0-80 per cent within 50min through a 50kW DC fast charger.

As per the available report, it will take a total of 6 to 8 hours to get fully charged with 7.4kW AC Home Charger. The buyer will get a charger with this MG electric car so the owner can charge it with a 15amp socket, easily available at home. However, with this charger, it will take 16 to 18 hours to get fully charged. Excite is the base variant of MG Electric SUV, It offers automatic projector headlamps with LED DRL, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry / go, 8-inch touchscreen, tire pressure monitoring system and electronic parking brake.

The top variant “MG ZS EV Exclusive” features leather seats, power-adjustable driver seat, panoramic sunroof, PM 2.5 filter in the cabin and rain-sensing wipers. Safety standards include 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, and rear parking camera with sensors.

To overcome the lack of charging infrastructure, Morris Garages has also planned to build a charging network at its dealerships in selected cities along with major routes. These Charging stations will also provide owners with "charge-on-the-go" facilities. The new electric cars gets an updated infotainment system from Hector. In which the “iSmart EV 2.0 Connect” feature will be available. Connecting it to the network will provide features like charging station locator, music from the app, weather information from Accuweather and real-time map.

The company with MG ZS EV is offering 5 years / unlimited kilometers warranty under the eShield plan and 8 years / 1,50,000 km warranty on lithium batteries. Additionally, for private buyers, the option of 24 × 7 road assistance is also available for 5 years. The ZS EV has been priced at Rs 20.88 lakh (Excite) and 23.58 lakh (Exclusive) in the Indian market. However, the prices are one lakh less for the customers who have performed pre-booking of this car.

MG ZS EV has been introduced in India as CKD and will be assembled in Halol, Gujarat. Before the launch in India, the MG’s electric SUV is already available for sale in markets like the UK, China, and Thailand.
