Based on the new UKL platform, BMW will launch its 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible in India tomorrow. It is expected to go on sale with a starting price of INR 35 Lakhs and goes up to INR 40 Lakhs (Both Ex-Showroom). Like its some other siblings, it will also be sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) route.
A unique feature of this new model is its roof that can be brought up and down in just 18 seconds at the top speed of 30 kmph. In terms of design, 2016 Mini Cooper will be displaying the same retro classic stance that is seen in all the other Minis. It also comes attached with a signature chrome grille, round headlamps and chrome embellishments on the tail lamps. Inside the cabin, you will see an advanced dash along with comfort upholstery.
BMW has slightly increased its size in comparison to the earlier one. The new dimensions are measured as 3,821 mm long, 1,727 mm wide and 1,415 mm high. After making all the changes, it is 120 kg heavier.
Under the hood, this convertible will be available in both petrol and diesel motor option. The former is stated to be powered by a 1.5-litre three cylinder unit that is tuned to churn out about 135 Bhp of power while the latter might be offered with a 1.5-litre three cylinder diesel engine that generates about 120 Bhp of power. A six-speed automatic gearbox would be packed with both the engines.
