The Japanese automaker has finally taken off the curtain from its next generation Outlander at the New York Motor Show 2015 to showcase the all aesthetic as well as mechanical modifications. At the front, there is a new design concept, “Dynamic Shield” alongside a massive grille, which is flanked by stunning headlights. On the other hand, it also gets renovated front fenders, LED lights, updated rear bumper, rattling LED tail lamps, lower door sections, power folding side mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer. Its interiors have also been amazingly redesigned with revised steering wheel, new trim and comfortable seats comprising much better upholstery quality than its predecessor.
Talking about more features, this new generation model receives rear folding seats, improved infotainment system and an auto-dimming rear view mirror including Homelink. Mitsubishi didn't forget to make the security more tight as compared to the current one for its occupants, to keep them safe while traveling. This model includes noticeable safety features, such as Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).
Mitsubishi Motors North America Executive Vice President, Don Swearingen, said, “The 2016 Outlander has an eye-catching new design aesthetic inside and out, and with its long list of engineering upgrades, the new Outlander literally looks, drives and feels like an entirely new vehicle, making it an even more compelling value than before”.
Beneath the skin, the Outlander comprises plethora upgrades alongside new chassis, latest electric power steering system and updated suspension system. Interestingly, the thicker rear door glass, retouched weather stripping, noise isolating windshield and additional sound deadening material have been added to improve NVH levels.
It will be available in two petrol mill choices with 2.4 litre four cylinder producing power of 166 bhp and torque of 219 Nm, while second one is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 unit to churn out 224 bhp of power and 291 Nm of torque. Both of these powertrains get mated to a CVT gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission, respectively. The manufacturer will make the appearance of this compact SUV in the Indian market in 2015 soon.
