New Cars Will Get Factory Fitted Number Plates

The Road transport minister declares factory fitted registration number plate will be available with the new vehicle and the registration charges will be inclusive of the price of the four-wheelers. This will definitely make a uniformity in cost while dealing across states.

Nitin Gadkari has announced that the government will make necessary plans for automobile companies to implement cars with factory-fitted tamper proof high-security number plates. Vehicle automaker will set the plates and emergence will be made at the showroom level. The registration cost will be inclusive in the price of the vehicle.

With this change, the uniformity across states will increase and will be convenient for the consumers as well. Recently, each state requires buying these plates in order to feet onto the vehicle. The costs for these plates will be between Rs 800 to Rs 40,000. The minister further added that the security will not be conciliated and the provisions will be standard for all models, whether it be luxury or economy vehicle.

The government lately compulsorily made for all cars produced after July 2019 to get seat-belt reminders, a speeding alert system beyond 80kmph, and airbags for drivers. Furthermore, the cars will as well obtain reverse parking sensors for extra loaded safety features. The notification generated by the Highways Ministry states and Road Transport, "Motor vehicles of category M1 (cars), manufactured on and after the 1st day of July 2019, shall comply with the additional safety features and its requirements stipulated in AIS-145 -2017."
