Bookings for this much awaited car had already been started across all the Hyundai dealerships in India. Especially known for its clean and minimal design, the enthusiast buyers now get the chance to put their hands on European’s new styling cues, as the car is based on an entirely new plot instead of the regular Fluidic architecture ideology. Let’s get you through the car:
What does it look like?
Wider, Longer and Shorter. The 2016 Elantra measures 20mm longer, 25mm wider and 20mm shorter over its forerunner model, while the wheelbase remains unchanged. And now the dimensions of the car stands at 4570 mm, 1800 mm and 1450 mm respectively, along with the 2700 mm of wheelbase.
If we look back in the history, the ‘Neo Fluidic’ Elantra was introduced in 2012 with the lots of curves and styling design elements. As the time elapsed, the styling curves were replaced with more catchy and crispy lines, and the Elantra became more alluring. And that’s what we called the real Evolution of the model throughout the generations, the sixth generation Hyundai Elantra.
The styling features of the car include the narrow headlamps, six-point LED foglamps, coupe-shaped sloping roofline, D-shaped LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels.
How’s it on the inside?
From the inside, the new Elantra offers quite a pleasant interior design ideology and all black theme with wooden accents. Fully loaded with technology-wise features like 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, electrically operable seats, leather upholstery and the hands-free boot open.
What’s under the hood?
Beneath the front end, this latest generation Hyundai Elantra launched with two engine options, 2.0-litre Petrol and 1.6-litre Diesel. The brand new 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to produce the maximum power of 147 PS at 6200 rpm along with 180 Nm of peak torque at 4500 rpm.
For diesel motor, the same 1.6-litre CRDi engine from the previous generation takes place to perform the duties which is capable of generating 130 Bhp of power. In terms of transmission, both engines are offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic unit.
What’s more in the segment?
Launched under the six generation moniker in the country, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra will lock horn with the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Octavia.
