Before taking off the wrapper globally on August 1, 2015, Mitsubishi has unveiled the teaser image of its next generation Pajero Sport showing the front fascia with a 'Dynamic Shield' design, including GR-HEV motivated X shaped grille and small headlamp clusters. The headlights are likely to be coming with LED elements for the customers. Coming to the rear profile, which receives vertically stacked light clusters, while its dimensions remain same as before. With regards to the current model, this newly upgraded SUV will render more comfortable seating for its occupants as it has more spacious environment inside the cabin.
Based on the ladder frame chassis, the upcoming Pajero Sport will replace the ongoing 2.5 litre DI-D diesel engine with a new 2.4 litre MIVEC diesel unit, which is also available in the latest L200. Mated to a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission, this mill will produce the output of 181 PS and 430 Nm. The customers will be able to opt between 2WD and 4WD variants according to their driving choices.
Engineered on the RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution Safety Body), this vehicle will have more powerful body and more impressive safety as compared to its predecessor. Presumed to be launched in India by the end of next year or early 2017 Via CKD route, the next generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will give straight competition against the forthcoming Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor.
Just like the previous one, the Indian model will also undergo production at the HMFCL (Hindustan Motor Finance Corp's) Tiruvallur plant.
