TVS is all set to introduce the new, modified variant of its popular bike Apache RTR 160 in 2018. The recent sightings of the new TVS bike revealed more about the specs and features of this premium bike. TVS Apache RTR 160, which was originally launched in 2007, is one of the most popular premium bikes in the country. Now, the company is working to release a new, advanced variant of the bike very soon. However, the official announcement regarding the bike or its launch date has not been made yet.
The spy photographs of the new TVS Apache RTR 160 were recently captured which reveal more significant details about it. The photos also indicate that the bike is ready to be officially introduced, and it is very much possible that TVS may launch it in the upcoming auto expo in 2018.
At the price tag of around Rs. 80,000, the new TVS Apache RTR 160 will give competition to many existing contenders including the likes of Yamaha FZ-S and Honda CB Hornet 160R.
In terms of features, the new TVS Apache RTR 160 is likely to borrow styling aspects from the TVS Apache RTR 200, which may include features like LED tail-lamps, mono-shock suspension and the digital instrument cluster. The side panel of the new variant of RTR 160 has been painted in silver. The split-seat feature of the RTR 200 is however not included in the new RTR 160 which comes with the same, single piece seat. There is not much clarification about the technical specs of the bike but it is possible that the new variant will feature a better performing engine than that of the current Apache RTR 160 bike. It may also come with the 5-speed transmission.
For the safety perspective, the 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 might feature ABS, which is absent in the current version. The bike may come with a 159.7cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke engine that will be able to produce the maximum power of 16 bhp and maximum torque of 13.1 Nm.
Since TVS has not yet hinted about the possible launch date for the new RTR 160, it is unlikely that the bike will be launched this year. It is being expected that the company may launch its new bike in the coming auto expo 2018.
