Along with various upcoming cars, BMW has recently displayed the next generation X1 at the Frankfurt Auto Show, which is the first vehicle in the X range to be based on an FWD UKL platform. Apart from the tweaked cosmetic elements, the new X1 also receives an upgraded powertrain configuration. Its evolutionary style is quite captivating, with some of the designing cues borrowed from BMW X5. The automaker is aiming at targeting a wider customer base this time, considering the shortcomings of its predecessor. This car will arrive in India by first half of next year via XCKD route and will be assembled in Chennai.

This new generation beauty measures 4,439 mm long, 1,821 mm wide, 1,598 mm tall and carries a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. When compared to the previous X1, its length is 36 mm shorter, while the width and height have grown by 21 mm and 53 mm respectively. The front end gets a revised bumper housing the company's signature kidney grille, flanked by LED headlamps with DRLs. Furthermore, the twin-five spoke rims and body colored ORVMs undoubtedly make it a complete package.
The interior of the car has just got better flaunting a whole new array of modern equipments. This list includes a Head-up Display, a hi-tech iDrive Control Display with an 8.8 inch screen that shows navigation information and an updated digital instrument cluster.
The engine of this luxury model is going to be packed with a 2 litre, 4 cylinder unit in both petrol and diesel options. The former is available in two trims with 189.4 Bhp and 227.9 Bhp, while the latter offers 3 variants torqued at 330 Nm, 400 Nm and 450 Nm. For the Indian market, the base spec models X1 sDrive 16d and X1 sDrive 18i will be available generating 114.4 Bhp and 134.2 Bhp respectively.
