For the past 12 months, the Japanese automaker Nissan, has been hinting about launching the GT-R model in India. And now, the buzz is that the company is all set to launch the model by the end of this year. The reason for the delay in this launch is reported to be the high maintenance nature of this sports car. It is a sophisticated vehicle and needs high octane fuel to run. Thus, a service infrastructure needs to be set up to provide the after-sale facilities. Moreover, the staff also needs to be efficiently trained and skilled for this job.
Mr Guillaume Sicard, President of Operations, Nissan India, was quoted as saying,“It is easy to launch a car, but what's the point if we cannot offer after-sales supports after we sold a car that would cost about 2 Crore.” Currently, the company has to send the technicians all the way from from Dubai to handle the servicing of GT-Rs owned by few customers in India.
So, the company is planning to provide a hassle-free maintenance service by setting up upgraded facilities with trained GT-R technicians. Even for performing a routine maintenance task, the mechanics have to undergo an intensive training for four months. After this training, the mechanics are qualified to be a GT-R technician. Each of the showrooms selling this model will be required to employ a trained technician.
This super car is powered by a 3.8 litre, V-6 twin-turbo petrol engine, which will generate 560 Hp of power and 463 Nm of torque. There will be a six-speed dual clutch system for transmission linked to the AWD setup. This sports model will accelerate upto 100km per hour in just 2.9 seconds with the maximum speed of 300 km/hour.
In the recent time period, Nissan has witnessed a decline in its sales. But with this launch, the car maker hopes to recover and re-gain a profitable position in the Indian car market. This stylish and power-packed model will definitely give a tough competition to models like Porsche 911 and Lamborghini Aventador.
