Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 which awaits India launch soon, lately got captured in two dimensions performing tests in India. It was equipped with the set of orange alloys, identical to 17-inch wheels, performs duty on the KTM 390 Duke. Globally, the Svartpilen 401 is on sale only with spoke wheels. The event makes us believe, the production India-spec model Svartpilen 401 could share KTM Duke 390 alloy wheels.
Bajaj Auto, which is responsible for Husqvarna’s operations in India, has already mentioned that the brand will launch soon this fiscal, maybe in early 2019. Two of its flagships, the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401, which are noted globally as Black Arrow and White Arrow respectively, will be the first products to hit the Indian biking industry. The test mules have already been witnessed several times performing test runs in India.
The bikes share KTM 390 Duke underpinnings and they are under development at the Bajaj’s Chakan based manufacturing unit. The production facility where KTM bikes are being manufactured. Besides, alloy wheels, the test mule were featured with 390’s belly pan, even the powertrain was containing KTM branding, which showcases the company is sourcing components from local suppliers.
The powertrain for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will also be a shared unit from the Duke 390. The 373.2cc single-cylinder engine is rated to generate 43.5 bhp and deliver 37 Nm via a mated six-speed transmission setup. The same powertrain performs propelling duties on the European-spec model with similar power output. We expect the Indian version will carry forward the same.
In terms of pricing, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 will carry the price tag nearabout INR 3 lakh in order to compete with BMW G 310 twins in the segment and obviously its cousin KTM 390 Duke.
