Petrol-Powered Mahindra XUV 500 Expected Soon in India

With the growing demand for the petrol powered vehicles since diesel ban, available manufacturers in the Indian market are focusing on providing petrol variant of their popular models. Following the same, Mahindra and Mahindra, one of the prominent names in the country’s automotive segment, is all set to introduce the petrol trim of its popular SUV, the XUV500 anytime soon. As revealed, the model will be entitled under ‘G’ series with the name G9. In the mechanism, components will be same as of mHawk series of diesel engines that performs propelling duties on other Mahindra SUV models.

The Mahindra XUV500 G9 will be powered by a 2.2-litre unit integrated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine setup will churn out the maximum power of 140 PS and 320Nm peak twisting force. Initially, the XUV500 G9 will only be offered with an automatic gearbox, but later in time considering buyers’ response, the automaker will think over rolling out a trim with a manual transmission. The model in question will pose a fierce competition with the dominant rival in range, Toyota Innova Crysta Petrol that uses the coughs out the power of 164PS and 245Nm torque from a 2.7-litre engine unit.

If the onboard features of this XUV500 G9 concerned, there will be the availability of a touchscreen infotainment system and two airbags for driver and co-passenger. Though, the variant misses out in terms of comfortable leather seats, and stylish alloy wheels.

In terms of pricing, there are no words from the Mahindra officials, but expectations suggest, it will be tagged with an aggressive price sticker to compete with the Toyota Innova Crysta in the vicinity of INR 14 lakh-INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
