Piaggio India has postponed the launch of its lined up flagship, the Aprilia SR 125 Storm to January 2019. Earlier, the scooter was slated to induct in Indian lineup around festive season this year, as revealed from the sources.
The shift in the decision to introduce scooter with a combi-braking system (CBS) only, make the Italian bike maker postpone launch till early next year. Earlier, the company were willing to introduce the non-CBS version of the SR 125 Storm as an initial offering. However, considering the upcoming emission norms which will hit the country on April 1, 2019, the company decided to delay the launch and roll out the SR 125 Storm with CBS option.
The upcoming emission regulations will be more stringent and mandate the two-wheelers above 125cc armed with ABS and below 125cc with CBS. Consequently, the products will attract increased price sticker. It could also be considered one of the reasons behind the delay.

Aesthetically, the SR 125 Storm appears different from its sibling the Aprilia SR 125 that is available on sale in India. The components like the paint scheme, small wheels wrapped with fattier tyres stand it apart from the SR 125. In the brand’s Indian lineup, it will get placed below the SR 125 and cater the younger audience.
