The least expensive variant of the Porsche has been launched in the country in the form of Macan R4. Having benefited from lower customs duties owing to a smaller engine capacity, this SUV will make you run for INR 76.84 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The company’s authorised dealerships have already started booking of the vehicle here at a token amount of INR 10 Lakhs. Moreover, this is the fourth Macan trim to be sold in India after S Diesel, Turbo and Turbo with performance package.
Let’s make a note about the powertrain first that includes a 2.0-litre, four cylinder petrol motor and capable enough to propel the car with a maximum power of 252 PS between 5,000 and 6,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 370 Nm between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm. The outcome will be transmitted to all four axles through the company’s 7-speed, ‘PDK’ dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Porsche claims that the Macan R4 can do 100 kmph sprint from standstill condition in a just 6.7 seconds and can hit a max speed of 229 kmph. With a view to dispatch all the power in a linear manner, the automaker has offered Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) air-suspension system.
The design of the car more or less dated with the other Macan variants, with no such distinctive updates are there. Talking about the features, it gets tyre pressure monitoring system, three-zone automatic climate control, electrically folding exterior mirrors, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, lane departure warning, PCM infotainment system and automotive tailgate opening system.
There is also an option for getting stuff like bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs, matt aluminium finished roof rails, panoramic sunroof, and 21-inch alloy wheels and Porsche’s Connect Plus infotainment system allowing an owner to connect Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible option. The decision to bring this SUV come soon after the launch of its rival, Jaguar F-Pace in India that is available on sale at the starting price of INR 68.40 lakhs (ex-showroom) for 2.0L diesel unit option.
Apart from this, the closest competitor of the entry level Macan R4 would be the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4Matic that recently arrive on the Indian shores with an engine option of 3.0L V6 petrol unit. And last, the Macan R4 Petrol will also be sold through same CBU unit that is being used for its other sibling. One interested person can purchase the car from Porsche’s centre in India facilitated in Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kochi and Kolkata.
