As mentioned by a Porshe’s official, the luxury car manufacturer will launch an electric vehicle (EV) in the country by in the starting of 2020. Porsche which is part of Volkswagen group started working in the country from 2012 and selling fully imported cars in India as there are no manufacturing or assembly units.
Director of Porsche India Pavan Shetty said, "We will launch a fully electric car in India in the beginning of 2020." The India-spec launch from the company will later come with the global launch during 2019 end, he mentioned, further detailing that the prototype of the model was previously displayed at the Frankfurt motor show in 2015. And Shetty admitted, "This is a part of the Mission-E of the company."
The carmaker has sold out approximately 401 units in the country in the year 2016, which goes up to 434 cars in 2017 during Jan-Dec period. He further said, "We are expecting a stable growth in the country as it is difficult to judge the external conditions like exchange rate fluctuations."

Shetty said after Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation, some models have got price hike due to increased tax rates and for some models, it stayed the same. Coming to the luxury segment including the super luxury brands, the company covers approximately between 1.2% and 1.5% shares.
Porsche will launch a new SUV model, Cayenne E3 in the 3rd quarter of this year, he said. The luxury car maker launched models like Panamera, Cayman, Boxster, 718 series, Macan, and the flagship 911 in the country. The Porsche has six dealers outlets and eight service centres in India.
