Tata Motors decided to stop the production of its much popular and talked NANO. Based on the sales, Tata Motors has decided to shut down the production of its popular Nano hatchback. The company informed that the production shut down would be announced officially very soon. The production and sales of Ratan Tata’s Nano, famous for its comfortable pricing, would come to an end very soon and is reported to be closing from April 2020.
Nano was a budget-friendly and Ratan Tata's dream car. It is the most economical car ever made. But, as of now, the Company is no longer interested in investing more in this car.
The announcement for stopping the production of the car has been made on the account of BS-VI emission norms, according to which the engine of all the cars needs to be updated on a compulsory basis as per BS-VI emission norms from April 2020. The Tata Motors' Passenger Vehicle Business Unit President Mayank Pareek shared the information while talking in details about the new emission norms.
Mayank Pareek shared the view of the Brand in his statement and said that as per the new emissions norms all the vehicles should be updated with BS-VI Emission Norms. These norms have arrived in January, later this year in April some newer norms would come and later this October some new safety norm. Thus, the Company would take a wise decision and would not be investing on the updation of its less profitable products and Nano, is one of them, which is prepared in Tata’s Gujarat-based Sanand plant.

As per reports which came some times ago, the sales of Tata Nano was on a low, and thus, the production of the car was limited to the requirement of the customers. As the car was made available to the customers whenever there was a requirement i.e, on an order-to-order basis.
Being a dream project of Ratan Tata, there was an emotional involvement with the project in the initial phase and the company gave its best to continue the production for a long time.
After its launch in January 2008, Tata Nano experienced an average sales, due to lack of interest shown by the Customers due to several reasons (including safety). Now, the Company has finally decided to stop the production of the car.

Tata Motors concluded that updating all its existing products to auto-companies in BS-VI is quite challenging and would be proved to be unprofitable.
Mayank Pareek further said that “we currently have 5 or 6 products which we will update them. This is a big challenge for the industry. BS-IV stock will be terminated by April 1, 2020.”
