Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are the 650 twins introduced recently by the Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer in India. Styled as per the classic motorcycles from the 1960s, the bikes in question are the most affordable twin-cylinder offerings in the country. And the initial customer response for the bikes is impressive as they are selling by the dozens.
However, the demand for the Interceptor 650 is more over the Continental GT 650 since the motorcycle is about INR 15,000 less expensive than the latter. The larger fuel tank of 14 litre capacity over the 12.5 litres GT 650’s unit is also one of the factors behind the Interceptor’s high demand. Also, the riding posture with much lower handlebar and taller fuel also sports the Interceptor 650 sales that offer much control over long rides. But as per the dealers report, the Continental GT is highly preferred among the youth, demands for the sporty and sleek appearance.
The pricing for the Interceptor 650 starts from INR 2.50 lakh while the Continental GT makes the buyer spend INR 2.65 as an introductory price amount. Keeping huge demand for bikes in mind, the automaker has pushed the waiting period until March or by early April of 2019.
