After a plenty of speculations and teaser snaps, Honda has finally pulled the covers off the all new CBRR1000RR Fireblade range at the 2016 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. The Japanese manufacturer has showcased two race specs version i.e., SP and SP2 of the super sports CBR1000RR Fireblade. Now finally, the CBR1000RR is available in total three versions namely, Stock, SP and SP2. However, the manufacturer did not reveal the specification of the Stock version.
The most technically updated Fireblade till now, the new CBR1000RR will go on sale as 2017 model, celebrating the 25 successful years of Honda’s flagship two-wheeler brand. The next generation CBR now became more powerful, while being more sharper at design profile then we saw on spy shots. The 2017 Fireblade gets a host of electrical and mechanical tweaks to lock the horns with the future superbikes.
The Sports beast produces the monstrous power of 190 hp which comes out from the in-line 4-cylinder 1000cc engine configuration, and is 11 hp more than the regular model. The kerb weight of the 2017 CBR has also been reduced by 15 kg over the current model and weighs 200 kg, thanks to the titanium fuel tank, muffler and magnesium engine cover which further help in reducing the length of nuts and bolts. The lighter weight of the bike results a 14 percent improved power to weight ratio.
Moreover, the new CBR1000RR SP and SP2 features a full touchscreen TFT LCD instrument cluster and LED head and tail lamps. Also, it comes with a programmable Ohlins Electronic Controlled Suspension system. Other electronic updates include throttle-by-wire, quick shift assist,, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with slide control and wheelie control, and Gyro based ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). All the above features are shared with the HondaGP RC213V-S racing bike.
In order to further enhance the racing spirit, the Japanese maker has also rolled out a homologation special edition limited to just 500 units for those enthusiasts who think CBR1000RR SP is not much track-focused. Available only in an HRC tri-colour theme, the CBR1000RR SP2 features lightweight Marchesini wheels and revised engine components. The tracked focused SP2 is further available in two versions - race kit and sports kit.
The all new track-focused CBR1000RR SP and CBR1000RR SP2 will first go on sale in Europe and the US markets by the March 2017. Whereas, the base variant CBR1000RR Stock will make its global debut in next month at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. About the India launch, we can expect the road-legal versions of the new 2017 CBR1000RR by the mid of next year.
