Tata Hexa Confirmed to Get Automatic Transmission, AWD And Driving Modes

In an official announcement, Tata has confirmed that its yet-to-be-launched SUV, Hexa will be offered with an automatic transmission and driving modes, and all wheel drive options. From the latest reports, Tata has postponed the India launch of the upcoming Hexa SUV, now it will go on sale in the country by January 2017.

The automatic transmission setup includes four driving mode, namely Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. We can expect these modes with only All Wheel Drive (AWD) automatic transmission variant .

Explaining the modes, all the driving modes work along with the Electronic Stability Programme (EBS) and engine management system which further helps in identifying the driving conditions in Auto mode. While in Comfort mode the gearshifts and power output mainly focus on offering a hassle free driving experience. And the Rough mode helps you to stay on the track on the off-road conditions by providing better grip and traction.

Debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show as the prototype model, Tata Hexa was later showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in a production-ready trim. It is based on the company’s existing Aria platform and will go head to head against the segment popular XUV500.

Tata Hexa features a new design ideology with a more stylish flow and sleek outlook. The front fascia gets aggressive projector headlamps covered by LED DRLs. Tata Hexa is also decorated with additional accessories such as sporty alloy wheels, plastic wheel cladding, and long roof rails, as seen in the Auto Expo 2016. Dimensionally, the Hexa measures 4764 mm in length, 1895 mm in width and 1780mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. Overall, the SUV offers a generous space.

Moving towards the under hood specifications, the SUV is likely to get a 2.2-litre four-cylinder VARICOR 400 diesel motor which also powers the new Safari Storme. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 154 bhp in combination with the 400Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear with the help of a 6-speed manual gearbox, while AWD will be optional.

Some other prominent features of the car include the Vehicle Dynamic Control, TCS (Traction Control System), Engine Drag Control, and six airbags in total. The muscular 19-inch alloy wheels are mounted on the 235/55 R19 tyres. Price for the Hexa SUV has not revealed by the company, though it is expected to launch around INR 12.9 Lakh.
