In the Indian automotive industry, the CII Design Excellence Award is an acclaimed honor. And this time, a compact sedan from Tata Motors, the Kite5 and the Honda CB Hornet 160R from the Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has received the trophy for best design models in their segments.
Back in 2014, the Tata Motors had also been awarded this trophy for yet another compact sedan- the Zest. Every year, the Design Summit is expanding to a next level as it is a platform to develop relationships between the design and innovation freak organizations. Altogether, it also helps in increasing economic competitiveness in the motoring world.
In the competition, the winner- Honda CB Hornet 160R has to compete in the tough rivalry with the other native giant's offerings like the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0. Look-wise, the bike in question is not that aggressive as compared to its rivals, else it manages to get on in the competition. All the credit goes to the designing team for making it that alluring to attain this success. On featuring end, the noteworthy features which offer a sporty character to the bike include up-swept side exhaust, sharp curves along with the carbon fiber finish on the embellished fuel tank, and an unconventional X-shaped tail light.
Whereas, the champion in the four-wheeler passenger category, the Tata Kite5 is still not introduced in the country. And it’s good to see that it has achieved this award before its launch. If talks about the fabricated elements of the much-hyped subcompact sedan on designing perspective, as similar to Tiago, the Kite5 receives design cues from the brand’s design creation centers in Pune, Italy, and the UK. Besides this, the headlamp and the wide grille employment has been taken from the similar one, Tiago. Other prominent attributes comprise of a wide chrome strip on the boot-lid, high mounted LED taillights, and an eye-catchy wrap around the tail lamps. The strategy behind introducing another sub-compact sedan in the market will be confronted after the official debut of the CII Design Excellence Award’ winner, Tata Kite5.
