After defeating various manufacturers, who have launched their cars with Zest and Bolt in the same range, Tata Motors has considered the demands for mini SUVs in the Indian automobile market. Hence, the company is planning to introduce several crossover models, such as a new seven seater SUV, Hexa, next Safari and Nexon. The Tata Nexon is currently at the peak level of discussion among all of these upcoming runabouts and will be launched next year's festive season. Its concept model has already been showcased at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show with unique front fascia including daytime running lights, LED headlights, full width instrument panel display and double sliding door system.
Dimension wise, this mini SUV gets 4 metre length, 1.73 metre width, 1.6 metre height and has a wheelbase of 2.54 metre. The vehicle will be machined on the updated X1 platform, which also underpins the Bolt as well as Zest and would be available with 1.2 litre REVOTRON turbocharged petrol engine that will produce power of 110 PS and torque of 170 Nm. On the other hand, its oil burner variant will be powered by a 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine that will come from Fiat.
Moreover, the brand is also looking for another diesel mill option alongside a 1.5 litre unit. The powertrains will be coupled with two transmission options for automatic and manual to render choice for the customers. It will be the biggest rival of the Mahindra S101 compact SUV, VW Taigun and Ford EcoSport.
