BMW has launched the third variant of its 3GT series in India and it is till date the most affordable sportier offering from the German Automaker in the 3 Series Gran Turismo segment. Christened as ‘the Sport’, the new offering comes in both petrol and diesel options. Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India calls the new offering as a perfect interplay of luxury and ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure’. The new offering will tickle the sporty aspirations of its owners as well as offer more space with a sporty front passenger and driver seat.
On the outside, the 3GT coupe remains true to the BMW name. It inherits design features like the coupe-style with slightly downward-sloping roofline along four doors and frameless windows in traditional BMW proportions. However, it is the eye-catching high-gloss black touch on the front and rear with sportier kidney grilles that render the much-desired appeal and true sports design. On the inside, the 3GT sport offers quite an impressive combination of aggressive upholstery that includes Black and Sensatec Veneto Beige, Sensatec Black/Red highlight, Veneto Beige. In addition to this, Fine-wood Interior trim coupled with Red contrast stitching on the Sports Steering Wheel and Gear Shift Paddles reflects the traditional BMW flair and agility.
Under the hood, the power services are performed by BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines from the BMW EfficientDynamics family. The two-liter four-cylinder diesel engine churns out 140 kW / 190 hp @ a maximum torque of 400 Nm. It gets from naught to 100 km in just 7.7 seconds. The eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission facilitates smooth gear shifts.

While the BMW 3GT will not have any direct on-road competitor, it will have price rivals that include the likes of Audi A4, Volvo S60 Cross Country, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. All thanks to the BMW Group Plant Chennai, the Locally-produced 3GT Sport gets cheaper by 2.6 lakh when compared to its earlier siblings in the 3GT Luxury Line. With a price tag of Rs 46.60 lakh, the 3GT Sport has staked its claim at being the most affordable variant in the 3GT lineup.
