Toyota is one of the most popular choices among the Indian buyers for its each segment like hatchback, sedan, SUV and MUV. From the moment on, we may miss new diesel models from the company due to the Supreme Court rule, which has banned the 2000cc diesel vehicles in Delhi. Besides, Kerala government has also followed the Delhi diesel ban and restricted the light and heavy diesel cars that are older than 10 years. New registration of the diesel vehicles has also been put on hold. Going stressful , Toyota has set its foot back to introduce new diesel vehicles in India.
Shekar Viswanathan, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Vice-Chairman, and Director, told in a recent PTI reports, "We have already started re-looking at our operations. What is hurting us is not so much the ban but the unfairness. Orders are passed without hearing us. It is going against the principles of natural justice. We feel our vehicles are being targeted."
Currently, Toyota has launched its Innova Crysta in the Indian car market that has garnered 18,000 bookings in just a month post launch. The new MUV has not been introduced in the Delhi region due to the ban. Looking to the diesel-ban, the automaker is working on bringing a new petrol variant of the Innova Crysta, which is already marketed in Indonesia. The petrol version is likely to arrive during the festive season in India.
