After having a long vacation, Toyota Supra is coming back to the battle of machines, but competing with the rivals won’t be an easy job this time. Looks like, the automaker has already made some prior research in the market and has partnered with BMW to share the parts for its next generation Supra. Recent information suggests that the new sports car will follow the launch of the BMW Z5, which is likely to happen in 2018.
As the market report suggests, Toyota and BMW have been jointly working on both the models since 2012, however, both the companies have now moved to their own separate directions. While BMW is busy in testing of its upcoming Z5 that comes as a replacement of the Z4, Toyota is employed to produce successor of the discontinued sports coupe.

Well, both Supra and Z5 are stated to be powered by a hybrid facility that consists of a BMW petrol motor and electric motor as well as these will also come fitted with all wheel drive configuration. Besides, the Supra is also expected to house BMW’s carbon fibre construction that underpins BMW’s i3, i8 and in its 7-series range cars.
Ian Robertson, BMW’s board member with responsibility for sales and marketing, said,“The one thing we’re clear on now is that a platform for both companies can work. The cars in themselves don’t actually need to be positioned the same. The platform can spawn two positionings.”

“The concept works, the platform can deliver and now we have two proud sets of engineers - one group German, one group Japanese - who are each fighting and arguing for the car they want.”
Despite using the in-house facility of manufacturing like its predecessor, the next generation Toyota Supra will be built in US or Europe and further celebrate its global debut in the year of 2018.
