UM is expected to introduce the Duty 230 in India in September. Firstly, it was displayed at the 2018 Auto Expo, the cruiser will compete for the Royal Enfield 350cc range-topping the popular model, the Classic 350.
The Duty will be the entry-level model in the Indian lineup of UM. It will be available in two versions, the Duty Ace and the Duty S. The Duty S is likely to available with a price tag of Rs. 1.1 lakhs, and the Ace at Rs 1.29 lakhs in India. Both the models will be urban cruisers. Rajeev Mishra, CEO, UM Lohia Two Wheelers as well mentioned that the Duty model will be available in the market until September.
Rajeev as well said that before the introduction, UM will bring two new models in the Renegade line-up whereas the Duty will get a 230cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine and the Renegade cruiser range utilizes an updated 279cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine.
Although, it is not enough. The company will also add 450cc and 650cc segments as well in the upcoming years which will compete for the Triumph, the upcoming Royal Enfield parallel-twins and Harley-Davidson. The company is also penetrating Rs 50 crore to make a new production facility in Hyderabad enhancing the capacity from 30,000 units to 80,000 units in a year. This facility will start functioning in February 2019.
