Volkswagen Gets Legal Notice After Failing Emission Tests in india

Just after the Volkswagen emission scam in USA, all other countries became alert and started looking into the matter. In India also, the Ministry of Heavy Industries had asked the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to investigate the automaker regarding emissions. And now, after the testing is over, manipulation has been found in the results. Consequently, a show-cause notice has been sent to the company on Wednesday. The ARAI has found Nitrogen Oxide emission in the diesel cars, which is 9 times more than the permitted level.

Although the manipulation found here is much less than that in US which was 40 times more than the standard emission figures, yet one can't deny the fact that the violation has been carried out. The models which were tested include the likes of Jetta, Vento, Skoda Octavia, Audi A6 and A4. For those who are not aware, Skoda and Audi are also owned by Volkswagen. The notice issued to the automobile brand has asked it to respond by the end of this month.

In case the company is found to be guilty and if it is proved that manipulations have been done voluntarily, VW could face some serious legal issues in the form of criminal case, heavy fines along with recall of the models involved. It is already in the middle of recalling 11 million cars from the global market, after the scam in USA. Well, we don't know what is going to be the final verdict, but one thing is sure that the brand is going to face not only financial but a heavy loss of its reputation in the market.
