The German brand, Volkswagen has made the world premiere of its C Coupe GTE at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. By showcasing this model at the ongoing Auto Event, VW has given the design details about its upcoming saloons. Based on the MLB platform, which also underpins the Audi A6, it is 5000 mm in length, 1930 mm in width and 3001 mm in wheelbase as well as according to the car maker's opinion, its production version would get the appearance of a latest sedan positioned between the Passat and Phaeton. Inside, this four door coupe receives individual rear seats & a V-form dashboard, a busy centre console, body colour coordinated door inserts and blue back lighting.
Notably, at its rear, occupants can access various functions of this luxury vehicle via having their own centre console. Apart from it, there is a rear seat entertainment system with dual displays that have been inserted in the backrest of the front seats by which, its passengers will have an enjoyable journey. Volkswagen Group Chief Designer, Walter de Silva said, “The new rear-end design that is oriented to the classic two-door coupe has given them more personality-the Volkswagen designers have integrated this stylistic element into the very dynamic design of the C Coupe GTE saloon.”
This Coupe Concept had also been debuted at the Geneva Motor Show last month along with a plug in hybrid system, including a four cylinder turbo petrol direct injection engine and an electric motor. Both of these powertrains are teamed up with an 8-speed automatic transmission for transferring the power to its wheels. The TSI mill produces a power of 210 PS, while the electric motor churns out 124 PS of power and when combining together, they make total output of 245 PS and a torque of 500 NM.
In complete electric mode, the runabout can go up to 50 km, and pairing to the gasoline engine, it can hit an impressive distance of 800 km. Interestingly, this model promises to deliver superb fuel efficiency of 43.47 km/l for the customers. In just 8.6 seconds, the concept can be accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h before achieving a top speed of 232 km/h.
