Yamaha's marketing strategy is to make variations under the same platform and undoubtedly they are moving ahead with great success as well. This time, the automaker has done updations upon its middleweight tourer by introducing the fresh 2017 SCR950. This new dirt machine in the middleweight range features a low-profile sitting couch, retro-looking side number plates, a miniature windscreen, fork boots and exotic eye-catchy colors. The variant still manages the sharp looks at its best. While the high-mounted turn signal indicators are improved in visual terms, the handlebars are taller and wider that are completely different from what Yamaha has used on its XV950 until now.

Technically, the motorcycle is built around a double-cradle frame offering quick handling. The engine remains intact with the same 942cc air-cooled SOHC 60 degree V-twin motor, which is mated to a five-speed transmission. The bike is good in suspension wise as well. Both, front and the rear suspension systems are engineered to bestow maximum ease and comfort and manages the machine's stylish low profile as well. Besides this, a 2-into-1 exhaust canal with an upswept muffler is also there to provide rich ground clearance.
The new Yamaha SCR950 gets a ride on spoked wheels having strong aluminum rims that manage the uneven terrains smoothly. Packed inside the sturdy block-patterned 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tires, the wheels maintain an ideal gripping and balance the bike on any road conditions. As far as the safety is concerned, SCR950 is wired by a 298mm disc brake upfront and 298mm disc at the rear, both getting wave rotors. Also, the front brake features a floating-mount to resist the heat distortion.
