Yamaha YZF-R3 Honored by the Prestigious IMOTY 2016

The Japanese entry-level sporty motorcycle, Yamaha YZF-R3, has been honored with the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2016 award. It was crowned with the name IMOTY 2016 by a group of India's senior monitoring journalists, after testing the bike on various parameters at Lonavala on 4th December. The much awaited sports Tourer was unveiled in August 2015, priced at 3.25 Lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Yamaha YZF-R3,Honda CBR 650F and DSK Benelli TNT 300 were declared as the top three motorcycles after being evaluated by a number of tests based on the factors such as price, fuel efficiency, body dynamics, comfort, safety, performance and mechanical innovations. They have left behind a number of bikes, which include Mahindra Mojo, Benelli 600i, TNT 899, TNT 1130, TNT 600GT, Bajaj CT100 etc.

YZF-R3 is a rapid growing newcomer in the performance segment. It has been powered by a 321cc parallel twin, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine that propels 42PS of power at 10,750 RPM and a peak torque of 29.6NM at 9,000 RPM, mated to a six speed gearbox. It has also been featured by racing derived forged pistons, carburised conrods and designed on a Diamond frame chassis, which gives it maximum rigidity and impressive handling support.
