Much awaited and highly anticipated Yamaha YZF R3 has been officially launched in India today at a price of INR 3.25 Lakh (Ex. Showroom Delhi) at the Buddh International Circuit. The quarter-litre motorcycle will be sold in the country in two color options- Racing Blue and Midnight Black. Yamaha dealerships have already started accepting booking of the motorcycle and it will be delivered in the next two weeks. The motorcycle is featured with a robust engine and modern technology that will directly compete with the rivals of the segment such as KTM RC 390, Ninja 300 and Benelli TNT 300. Thus, the motorcycle will be brought in Indian shores via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route from the Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing facility, Indonesia.
From the technical side, the Yamaha YZF-R3 is powered by an all-new 321cc engine displacement. The twin-cylinder and liquid-cooled motor produce 42 BHP of power at 10,750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 RPM, the engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The motor is programmed with electric fuel injection system which is ensured for outstanding performance and mileage. The YZF-R3 is inspired by the racing DNA of R1M and comes equipped with Yamaha’s R-series technology that includes of a direct-drive camshaft, low-friction cylinders, forged pistons, etc.
In terms of design, the design and body cues are acquired from Yamaha R25. The quarter-litre motorcycle carries a massive fuel tank, twin headlights and low mounted handlebars that look very stunning. It gets digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer. The motorcycle gets MRF ZAPPER S tyres on the front and rear wheel. Moreover, the motorcycle is built around on a lightweight Diamond frame that sits on rear monoshock suspension and front telescopic suspension. The braking duties are taken care by a front 298mm disc and 220mm rear disc brake, while the firm has not equipped an Anti-lock Braking System in the YZF-R3.
The motorcycle weighs of 169 KG and it has excellent ergonomics that comprises of 2090mm of length, 720mm of width and 1135mm of height. The seat height of this motorcycle is 780mm from the tarmac.
