Yamaha YZF-R6 Launched: Inspired By Sibling R1

Yamaha recently launched the anticipated bike of the year, the supersport bike YZF-R6 2017. The bike is mostly inspired by the YZF-R1 in the points of the fuel tank and front fairing. The company has been trying every possible way to create something spectacular and has used the same strategy in 2017 R6.

The fairing of the bike gets a full-LED lighting, along with the integrated turn signals and the daytime-running lights. Backing up the design is an aluminum fuel tank and aggressively shaped R1 inspired tail section. The YZF-R6 is powered with a 599cc, inline-four engine while it is Euro-4 compliant. There is a lightweight magnesium engine cover with a 6-speed transmission. Also, it gets titanium valves and a race-tested variable intake system.

The standard fitment has slipper clutch and as optional extra electronic quick-shifter for clutchless full-throttle upshifts is available. A new set of advanced KYB 43mm inverted forks at the front, offering exceptional adjustability, with all adjustments at the top of the fork has been embedded perfectly.

The Yamaha YZF-R6 gets a 25mm axle shaft, further boosting rigidity and wheel control, and uses the same dual 320mm front rotors with four-piston radial mount calipers. The safety feature is 220mm rear disc brake along with new ABS system at both ends.

The electronically updated features are been included in this new YZF R-6 like, ‘Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle’ ride-by-wire system, 6-level traction control system and three-stage engine level selection system. Coming to the price, Yamaha has given the YZF R6 a tag of USD 12,199 (INR 8.4 lakh). And it comes in three color options - Matte Black, Team Yamaha Blue, and Intensity White/Matte Silver.
