Facebook introduces Election Tracker App for Lok Sabha Polls

Facebook India introduces its App 'Election Tracker' for coming Lok Sabha polls. This app will give information about the various parties and their candidates who are competing and also tell about their progress in the election.

According to Ankhi Das Facebook's Public Policy Director India and South Asia said that "We focus on making sure people have the power to share and to make the world open and connected. This opportunity to engage actively and regularly with constituents have led campaign teams and leaders to use the medium, making Facebook a core part of the official infrastructure in the country".

The app shows information about various candidates and parties. It shows graphs and stats about different candidate's buzz on the Facebook, It also shows dips and spikes of the buzz. This will also let users to know about the major issues used by the different candidates like education, corruption, medical etc for the polls. For more efficient work company collaborated with Association of Democratic Reform (ADR) to provide information regarding any minister and any party.

Facebook says that App will be beneficial to 93 million users in the country. It is considered that social medial will be influential to 160 out of 543 Parliament constituencies of the country, these constituencies are most affected by the different social media as 10% of voting population use social media as they can able to bring big changes in the poll result.

Researches shows that social media is more convincing than that of television ads. And if we talk about the country than 100 million people are using internet everyday in the country. And out of them 40 million have assured broadband and should have at least one social media account.
