In the current techno era, it looks like the smartphone market across the globe has kicked out the Windows OS based smartphones from the ecosystem, as there are easier and user-friendly operating systems like Android and iOS available. Still, there are some OEMs, which are still showing their faith in Microsoft and are continuously releasing new devices running Microsoft’s mobile OS. Alcatel is one of those smartphone manufacturers, which has unveiled the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro running on the Windows 10 OS. The new handset by the company is already available for Pre-booking in Europe with a price tag of GBP 419.99 (Rs. 35,300 approx).
The new Alcatel Idol 4 Pro is currently available via Microsoft online store and is blessed with the same design and specifications as the company’s previously launched Idol 4S smartphone. The only difference we can see between both the smartphones is their operating systems, in which the former Alcatel Idol 4 Pro is based on Windows OS, whereas the Alcatel Idol 4S was an Android-based handset. Interestingly, a Windows 10 OS based Alcatel Idol 4S variant is already available in the US market, which was launched via T-mobile in November last year.
In term of design, the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro looks a lot similar to its predecessor Idol 4S smartphone and comes with a metal frame and a fingerprint scanner at the back. The handset is up for pre-orders but is available only in a Gold colour variant. Moreover, the Windows smartphone packs a 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and runs Windows 10 OS. It is powered by the Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset coupled with Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt memory space, which can be expanded up to 512GB via microSD card.
In term of optics, the Dual-SIM smartphone is blessed with a 21-megapixel rear camera coupled with touch focus and dual-LED flash. An 8-megapixel front shooter is also provided by the company with real-time face beautification and LED flash for shooting selfies. As a recall, the Android variant of the smartphone includes a 16-megapixel rear camera.
Moreover, the GSM handset is backed up by a 3000mAh battery, which comes with Quick Charge 2.0 and is claimed to completely charge the device in just 95 minutes. The battery of the smartphone is also rated to offer 20 hours of talk time and 420 hours of standby time. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE (Cat 6.), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB Type-C port (OTG support). Furthermore, sensors on the board include an accelerometer, proximity, light, e-compass, gyroscope, and hall switch.
