The Indian based smartphone maker Lava has rolled out a new handset in its Atom series entitled as Lava Iris Atom. The market price of the phone is tagged with INR 4,249 making it one of the best affordable smartphone, which is now also indexed on the company's website and shortly will make its way out in the Indian market.
The highlighting factor of the handset is its 4-inch screen display with a WVGA 480x800 pixel resolution. It is a dual-SIM variant that runs on Android Lollipop v5.1 OS and is powered by a 1.3Ghz quad-core processor. It comes with a 512MB of RAM, which might hamper the performance for high-end smartphone users.
Quite recently, Lava unveiled Iris Atom 3 smartphone priced at INR 4,899 and no wonder the new handset being its sibling is way too similar in all aspects, however it differs in terms of the front facing camera and the battery backup. Dimensionally, the handset measures 125.5x63.2x9.65mm and has a weight of 110 grams. The Iris Atom 3 features a 2000mAh battery while the new Iris Atom is powered by a 1550mAh battery, way less than its counterpart.
Its internal storage capacity is of 8GB which can be easily expanded up to 32GB using an external MicroSD card. It encompasses a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash and a 0.3-megapixel front facing shooter for selfies and video calling. Being powered by 1550mAh of battery, it can give 12 hours of regular talk time on 2G networks and 9 hours of regular talk time on 3G networks as per what is being claimed by the company. In the terms of connectivity options, it comes equipped with GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality, Bluetooth v2.0, FM radio, Micro-USB 2.0, and GPS/ A-GPS.
