Apple has confirmed that there are severe battery problems on some iPhone 6S models that make the devices shut down in an improper manner. The fixing of the defective batteries will be done under Apple's battery replacement program in reference to the request made by the China Consumers Association (CCA) asking Apple to investigate problems and complaints regarding iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S unexpected shutdowns.
Apple support page reads, “Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015."
“If you have experienced this issue, please visit an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have your device’s serial number checked to confirm eligibility for a battery replacement, free of charge,”it added.
Apple also said that the iPhone 6S battery replacement program doesn't signify the extension of the standard warranty coverage. The program will cover affected iPhone 6S batteries for 3 years and the defected batteries won't be replaced by a wireless carrier.

Reportedly, Apple is offering the iPhone 6S battery replacement program across the globe, but the repairs are limited to specific region or country where the device was purchased. In case any another external damage needs to be repaired then it may cost some additional money.
