Blackberry the Canadian smartphone manufacturing firm, now made an agreement with TCL Communication Technology Holdings Ltd China to manufacture and sell Blackberry-branded smartphones. TCL also makes smartphone for Alcatel and from now onwards will be making Blackberry handsets. The Alcatel handsets will now be seen paired with Blackberry’s security software and service suit.
The company is now planning to pay more attention to software part and just managing the manufacturing process with TCL to compete with techno giant firms such as Apple and Samsung. Blackberry, back in September this year stated that it will outsource the development of its handsets, and just a month after that launched its last smartphone, the Android-based DTEK60, and that too was made up under the agreement with TCL.
This agreement of Blackberry makes TCL the fourth-largest handset maker in North-America, according to which it will now have the rights to make and sell Blackberry handset in all countries over the world except India, Srilanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.
The Indonesian market will now be covered by, BB Merah Putih, which now holds the rights to make and sell Blackberry handsets in that country. The Blackberry had a business revenue from software and services part was USD 156 million in its latest quarter, which had been decreased from USD 166 million in its prior quarter.
