Earlier in 2014, Google started its revolution of making Android One smartphones for targeting the markets to deliver a standard for smartphones. Google launched it's first Android One smartphone in India last year, has since expanded to several Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines and Sri Lanka. Now, the company made its official way to its first country outside Asia that is Turkey.
The Google launched its first midrange Android One smartphone with the collaboration of General Mobiles, a smartphone brand in the US. The newly launched smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016) is dubbed as GM 5 Plus Android One Smartphone, which is priced to be under $300 (approximately Rs. 20,500). The phone is said to hit the market shelves in Turkey at the end of the March, and make its way to 15 other countries after that.
The GM 5 Plus Android One smartphone is featuring a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor clubbed with 3GB RAM. It houses a 21GB of inbuilt storage, that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot expansion. The GM 5 Plus sports metal frames and comes with a textured back cover.
On the software front, the device runs on Android 6.0.1 based Marshmallow operating system and packs with reversible USB Type-C connector and supports Qualcomm's Quick charge 3.0 technology, which are some of the highlights of the smartphone. The handset packed with a support of 4.5-G (LTE-A) Cat.7 with a download speed of up to 300Mbps and upload speeds of up to 100Mbps.
At the photography department, the GM 5 Android One incorporates 13-megapixel rear as well as front cameras. The rear camera supports autofocus and comes with dual LED flash. The front facing shooter also supports autofocus and comes with regular LED flash.
