Gionee, the Chinese smartphone maker, has released the OTA (over-the-air) update for it's recently showcased A1 smartphone. The company has announced that this latest OTA update is to bring improvements in the features like - front selfie camera, music, and videos. It's interesting, as the company has yet not dispatched the handset in the market, but the OTA update has already been released. Regarding this, the company has stated that a pop up will appear as soon as the buyer unbox their smartphone. The company also suggests that if pop up doesn't appear then a buyer should check it from the settings menu. For manual checking user must follow - Settings > About > Software update.
As mentioned by the company, the OTA update brings improvements to the front camera, now every image captured by using front camera will be stored automatically in a folder named Selfiestan. The 'Selfistan' folder can also be customized as per the user requirements. The OTA update also manages videos, and from now on a user can watch videos in a common video player for both YouTube and locally stored videos. Also, the new update will bring floating window feature for the YouTube videos.

The latest OTA update by Gionee has also added some more features to the music player and has allowed users to create a specific music library in the Music App. Users are also facilitated with an all-new alphabetic search feature in the music library. Apart from all these updates, the new OTA update for the Gionee A1 will also add a customized suspend button functionality while updating Google security patch. The new OTA update also fixes minor bugs and is claimed to enhance the performance of the handset.
It must be noted that the Gionee A1 was launched in February 2017 in India, with a price tag of Rs. 19,999. The pre-booking for this Gionee handset has begun from the 31st March and has been claimed that the company received 75,000 units order in 10 days. the major highlighting point for the Gionee A1 is its huge battery of 4100mAh, and, superior selfie photo quality with the help of a 16-MP front facing camera. The 16-MP front facing camera of Gionee A1 comes with a f/2.0 aperture, a 1/3.06-inch sensor, a 5P lens, and a selfie flash. On the rear side, this latest Gionee mobile in India has been incorporated with a 13-MP camera with a 1/3.06-inch Sony IMX258 sensor, and dual-LED flash. As stated above the device has an enormous 4010mAh battery with 18W 'ultrafast charging' feature.

To recall, the Gionee A1 has been powered by 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 processor and it comes along with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. This Gionee smartphone operates on Android 7.0 and is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Micro-SIM. Along with 4G LTE connectivity options, it also includes Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, and 3G. The top smartphone sensors in the handset are Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope. It measures 154.50 x 76.50 x 8.30 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 183.00 grams.
