Gionee, the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company has launched an upgraded version of its previously launched 2014 Pioneer P5L, the Pioneer P5L (2016) smartphone in India. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 8,499 and is available to buy via the company's online store. The Chinese company confirmed the launch in a Facebook post.
The main USP of the smartphone is its 4G LTE as well as voice over LTE (VoLTE). As per the official listing, the Pioneer P5L (2016) supports the two LTE bands in India-FDD 1800MHz (Band 3) and TDD 2300MHz (Band 3) and TDD 2300MHz (Band 40).
Earlier in 2014, the company launched the Gionee Pioneer P5L, priced at Rs. 10,000 and was compatible with India's 4G LTE frequencies.

As for the specifications, the Gionee Pioneer P5L (2016) is featuring a 5-inch HD display having a resolution of 720*1280 pixels. The dual SIM based smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.
On the storage end, the device bears a 16GB of native storage, that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot expansion. At the photography department, it incorporates an 8-megapixel camera at the rear end with LED flashlight along with a 5-megapixel front facing camera on board.
For the connectivity, the GSM-based mobile includes 4G, include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB. It is measuring 143.5x72x8.3mm and comes preloaded with WhatsApp, Facebook, Snapdeal, WPS office, 360 Security lite, Clean master, and Hungama apps among others.
It is backed by a 2300mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 9 hours of talk time and standby time of up to 300 hours on 3G network.
