After spending long hours in Delhi High Court for receiving some favorable order, the Chinese tech giant has finally regained its strength. The Company has now allowed by the court for selling its select devices in India as per conditions. Xiaomi will sell and import its Qualcomm chipset-based device in India until January 8.
As per this order of temporary sale, the tech giant will be able to sell its Redmi Note 4G and Redmi 1S handsets in India. The successful Redmi Note is no more the part of this new order as it uses Mediatek chipset inside the device. Earlier, the Redmi Note 4G was set for introducing by end of the December. So, the e-commerce website Flipkart can also sell the both devices until the notified date.
Xiaomi can also sell the Mi4 smartphone in India which is now stuck on the way of India as expected to launch in 2015. Earlier, the HC ordered the Chinese tech giant to stop the sell, import, advertize and market its products for Indian market because of Infringement of Ericsson’s standard essential patents (SEP).
The Court also directed commissioners t keep an eye on company India office. Rs. 100 on each device it sold, can be charged by the Company. The hearing for the ex-parte injunction has been prompted to January 8. Till then, Xiaomi is allowed to sell its Qualcomm based devices.
Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi had posted on Facebook for closing the Redmi Note registrations, "we have been forced to suspend sales in India until further notice due to an order passed by the Delhi High Court. As a law abiding company, we are investigating the matter carefully and assessing our legal options."
