After being in the rumors from the last few weeks, Huawei sub-brand Honor has launched two smartphones, dubbed as 8X and 8X Max in its home country, China on 5th September 2018. Both smartphones have a glass panel and dual cameras on the rear panel. The Honor 8X is a standard variant comes with an Apple iPhone X like notch along with 18.7:9 aspect ratio.
On another hand, the Honor 8X Max is a premium variant features water drop notch on the top of the display along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Both smartphones are accompanied by Dolby Atmos stereo speakers to provide good sound experience to the users.
Both, Honor 8X and Honor 8X Mar have been coupled with artificial intelligence (AI) powered capabilities features such as AR stickers, Portrait mode, HDR, Super Night Scene and more.
In the China market, the Honor 8X Max has been priced at CNY 1,399 which roughly translates to Rs 14,700 for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB storage configuration, whereas the mid 6GB RAM+ 64GB internal storage is retailing at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,800). Lastly, the high end 6GB RAM+128GB internal storage variant comes with a price tag of CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs. 20,000).

The Honor 8X will available for purchase at several online platforms in China such as Vmall, Tmall, Suning, and Jingdong. The company said that the users can pre-book the Honor 8X from 6th September 2018 and the deliveries will start from 11th September 2018.
On another hand, the premium Honor 8X Max comes with a price tag of CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,700) for 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant, whereas 4GB RAM+128GB storage configuration is retailing at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 19,000). Both of the variants of Honor 8X will be available from 6th September 2018 at Vmall, Tmall, Sunning, and Jingdong across China.
Honor 8X is a successor of previously launched Honor 7X and the former boasts a 6.5-inch full-HD+ TFT IPS like iPhone X display which offers 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 397ppi of pixel density and 1080x2340 pixels resolution. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo layered with the EMUI 8.2.0.
Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710F SoC. For storing content, the company offers 4GB/ 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. The users can further extend the storage capacity by using a dedicated microSD card.
The Honor 8X packs dual 20MP+2MP cameras on the rear panel. The rear camera set up is coupled with an LED flash and offering an aperture rate of f/1.8. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone features a 16MP front-facing camera along with an aperture lens of f/2.0.
The connectivity option on the Honor 8X include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, dual- SIM (Nano), microSD card and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The smartphone is equipped with the ambient light sensor, compass, fingerprint sensor, gravity sensor, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. The Honor 8X is armed with a 3,750mAh battery. The dimensions of the smartphone are 160.4x76.6x7.8mm.
The Honor 8X Max bears a 7.12-inch full-HD+ TFT IPS water drop notch display featuring 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 72 percent NTSC color gamut, 1080x2244 pixels resolution and 350ppi pixel density. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System layered with EMUI 8.2.0.
Under the hood, there is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC integrated with 4GB RAM and 64GB/ 128GB internal storage that can be extended by using a microSD card.
In terms of camera department, the Honor 8X MAx features dual cameras on the rear panel which includes 16MP primary sensor and 2MP secondary sensors with an aperture rate of f/2.0 and f/2.4 respectively. Up front, the smartphone gets an 8MP selfie snapper with an aperture of f/2.0.
The premium Honor 8X supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, dual- sim (Nano), Micro-USB and Micro SD card. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and measures 177.57x86.24x8.13mm.
It must be noted that the Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max have been introduced by the Huawei particularly in the China market. As of now, the company has not announced when it would unveil Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max in other markets and globally.
Huawei, sub-brand Honor had launched the 8X in the China market on 5th September 2018 soon coming to the Indian market on 16th October and the launch event is scheduled to take place in New Delhi.
The launch information regarding the Honor 8X has been officially revealed by the company on its global website which reveals that the Chinese tech giant would also unveil the Honor 8X in selected markets during this month.
In Malaysia, the mid-range Honor 8X would unveil on 9th October and Russia on 10th October. In the Czech Republic, it would unveil on 11th October, India on 16th October and Bangkok on 24th October.
As the name suggests, Honor 8X is a successor of previously launched Honor 7X which was one of the affordable smartphones from Huawei that has a taller 18:9 display and dual cameras on the rear panel.
It is speculated that the Indian variant and the Chinese variant of Honor 8X are identical to each other in terms of specifications, excluding storage and price.
