Just after few months of the launch of HTC Desire 12, the Taiwanese tech giant has launched a new smartphone, dubbed as HTC Desire 12s particularly in Taiwan market. The Desire 12s is a step-down version of Desire 12 and features mid-range specifications. The Desire 12s from HTC features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC, a standard notch display, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, thicker bezels on the top and bottom edges, a half- textured rear panel for better handling.
The HTC Desire 12s comes at a starting price of TWD 5,990 (roughly Rs. 13,900) for 3GB RAM/32GB storage model and goes up to TWD 6,990 (roughly Rs. 16,200) for 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model. It has been launched in three color options including Black, Silver, and Red.
Design wise, on the front side of HTC Desire 12 there is a single camera along with commonly found standard display notch and having narrow bezels on the top and bottom edges. On the rear side, there is also a single camera and the device has a textured pattern for better handling. The power key is positioned on the right-hand edge while the volume button key is placed on the left-hand edge of the device.

The HTC Desire 12s has a 5.7-inch HD+ display and the pixel resolution is 720x1440 as well as 18:9 aspect ratio. From the software front, HTC Desire 12s runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS layered with HTC Sense on the top. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. For storing content, the company has offered 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/ 64GB internal memory with the support of microSD card for further extension.
As far as camera specs are considered, the HTC Desire 12s gets a single 13MP rear camera along with the support of PDAF, LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, and 1080p video recording. For selfies and video calling, there is a 13MP front-facing camera featuring LED flash, aperture of f/2.2, fixed focus. It is armed with a 3,075 mAh battery. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm audio jack, Micro-USB port as connectivity options.
HTC Desire 12s has been embedded with an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass sensor, magnetic sensor, fingerprint sensor, and a proximity sensor. It measures 154.2x72.7x8.3mm, and weight is 150 grams.
As of now, it is not confirmed when the HTC would unveil the Desire 12s globally as well as other markets including India.
