Today, at 1:30 PM IST, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched its highly awaited Mi 5 on the global stage of MWC at Barcelona. The video of the launch event is being streamed live at the Youtube. This is the first time for which the Xiaomi is making efforts for the international launch and arranged the live streaming facility for the fans who are not able to attend the MWC 2016 event.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone is being claimed as the most powerful and insanely fast handset till date. The handset has been incorporated with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC that is equipped along with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB Flash Memory. The new SoC inclusion has ensured 100 percent faster CPU performance. The device also sports a new v6.0.4 Antutu and 530 Adreno GPU. The inclusion of all these features has also reduced the power consumption.
The smartphone has also been equipped with a front-finger print sensor that is much different from typical fingerprint sensor of Samsung and Apple smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 5 has also been incorporated with a unique feature to with-stand hardness of 8H on the MOH hardness scale along with water resistant property. The camera specification is another highlighting feature as it has an OIS camera that enhances the camera quality of the smartphone. The smartphone bears a 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera.
The design of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is breathtaking and highly magnificent as it is made up of ceramic body (first of the kind), resembling Marble look and have curved edges to give it a sleek look. The newly launched Xiaomi Mi 5 has a screen of 5.15-inch and dimension of 144.55x69.20x7.25mm. The handset weighs aroung 129 Gram (lighter than iPhone 6S). On the power front, the handset has a 3000mAh battery of higher density.
The Smartphone has been launched in three different variants, of which standard edition featuring 3GB LPDD4 RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 21,000); high version featuring 3GB LPDD4 RAM and 64GB storage priced at CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs. 24,000), and exclusive edition featuring 4GB LPDD4 RAM and 128GB storage priced at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs. 31,500). Mi 5 will also go on sale in China starting March 1. Unfortunately, the company has not detailed any availability details for markets outside China. It comes in Black, White, Gold and Rose colours. Xiaomi, as touted previously, is pushing its Mi 5 as the first phone featuring Snapdragon 820 processor hitting the market.
