Motorola and its subsidiary Lenovo were struggling to make a mark in the smartphone market which is empowered by Huawei, Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi. But now the bad days are going to end because Motorola has disclosed the new Moto G7-series of smartphones.
Motorola, on 7 February 2019, at an event held in Brazil disclosed the new Moto G7-series of smartphones. The Moto G7 lineup has come with improved camera performance and all-day battery life. The smartphones are Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Play, and Moto G7 Power. Motorola stated that the new smartphones will go on sale from today in Brazil and Mexico followed by India, North America, Latin America, and Europe.
The Moto G7-series announcement is among the smartphone-related announcements of 2019 because the customers waits for MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2019 as the phone makers show their products in the event.
Samsung is trying to come back to the affordable smartphone segment and has recently launched its India-first M-series devices- Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20. So we can say that Moto G7 smartphones and these two Samsung smartphones and other forthcoming Galaxy M-series will compete with each other in various markets across world.
As per Motorola, the Moto G7 Play will retail at $199 (Approx. Rs 14,200) while the Moto G7 Power at $249 (approx. Rs 17,800). The price of the Moto G7 is $299 (approx. Rs 21,300) and the Moto G7 Plus costs EUR 299.99 (approx. 24,500).
All the four Moto G7-series will firstly go on sale in Brazil and Mexico from today and across world, the smartphones will go on sale in the mid-February. Motorola has not disclosed the schedule of release in India for any one the Moto G7-series except the Moto G7 Power, which will come in India in next few weeks.
In terms of specifications of the G7-series, the new Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Play, and Moto G7 Power runs on the Android Pie- the latest version of Android. The smartphones carry a display notch of different sizes with small bezels but still they are lacking behind the trending full-screen or almost full-screen displays.

The features of the Moto G7 smartphones include rear fingerprint sensors for security, 4G LTE support and other basic connectivity options. In the G7-series smartphones, Motorola included many camera-specific software customisations which includes Auto Smile Capture, Smart Composition, and Super Slow Motion (250fps).

The smartphone packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded upto 128GB via microSD card. The Moto G7 packs 3,000mAh battery and also has dual-SIM (Nano) support.
In terms of optics, at the rear, the Moto G7 comes dual camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens and 5MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 lens. On the front, the smartphone has 8MP sensor with an f/2.2 lens for selfies and video calling.
The Moto G7 Plus sports the same display as of Moto G7 i.e. 6.24-inch full-HD+ Max Vision screen with 1080 x 2270 pixels of resolution. The smartphone packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded upto 512GB via microSD card. It is powered with octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC clocked at 1.8 GHz.
