U.S based smartphone maker Motorola (which recently got acquired by Lenovo) at its New Delhi event on Tuesday has finally uncovered the fourth generation Moto G smartphones in India in two different variants dubbed under the names of Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The company has not yet disclosed any information related to the availability of both Android smartphones, however as of now it's confirmed that the devices would be exclusively made available for purchase via e-commerce website Amazon Indian subsidiary Amazon India in two color shades i.e., Black and White colors.
Both the smartphones are quite identical in terms of specifications, however as always their price does differ. The Moto G4 Plus device has been priced at INR 13,499 for its 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant while its sibling featuring 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant has been evaluated for INR 14,999. The company has not yet disclosed the price of Moto G4 and it is expected that it will get unveiled somewhere nearby its launching date. The company has also announced its M4DE program for smartphone accessories that gives them official certification and permits them to work with Motorola products.
The Lenovo-owned company is also claiming the 'dual-SIM with intelligent calling' functionality on both smartphones an important addition since that allows users to assign contacts to an SIM card, enabling them to switch between two call plans with quite an ease. like, suppose switching between business and home.
Taking a closer look at the specifications of the Moto G4 Plus smartphone, we observe that it is a Dual-SIM (Micro-SIM) smartphone featuring a fingerprint sensor on the home button which also entitles it to become the first ever Motorola device to offer this feature. It's just 7.87mm thick and additionally sports a 5.5-inch full HD screen that gives a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels along with a pixel density of 401ppi and comes protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The GSM-handset further gets powered by an a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (MSM8952) SoC coupled with an Adreno 405 GPU and available in two (2GB or 3GB) RAM choices.
In terms of camera specs, the device sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and laser autofocus features coupled with 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an 84-degree wide field of view and f/2.2 aperture. Additionally, both its storage variants offer expansion support up to 128GB using microSD card. The device further equips a 3000mAh battery with a TurboCharging support that charges the battery for 6 hours in just 15minutes. Dimensionally, the device measures 153x76.6x9.8mm and carries a weight of 155 grams.
Lastly, the device offers standard connectivity options like 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Micro-USB, 3.5mm audio jack, and GPS/ A-GPS with the addition of different sensors on board that majorly includes the accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor.
The other launched Moto product i.e., Moto G4 is almost identical to Moto G4 Plus, but still differs in certain aspects like is in terms of camera specs the Moto G4 features a 13-megapixel rear camera (with a f/2.2 aperture) instead of a 16-megapixel camera (as seen on G4 Plus). Further., the handset doesn't include a fingerprint sensor and is available in only one variant of 2GB RAM that comes with 16GB built-in storage. Notably, both smartphones support 4G on one SIM card slot and 3G on the other SIM.
