The leading brand in the mobile manufacturing industry, OPPO has yanked off the wrap from its beauty beast, named R5 to beat the Gionee’s thinnest smartphone. With 4.85mm sleek design, the Company has snatched the crown of thinnest device from its biggest rival Gionee which had brought 5.15mm-thick Elife S5.1 earlier. Loaded with astonishing goodies, this Oppo smartphone is designed so beautifully to prove its elegance and trendiness.
The ritzy device is made to knock your socks off with its jaw dropping features and craftsmanship. Bearing the metallic body, a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED screen is sited on it to show the premiumness. Its framing in metal body is completely different from all other metallic finished devices as it is garnished manually instead of using machines. The phase-shifting material is used in Oppo R5 to provide cooling to its internal hardware parts which is not a darndest feature in a smartphone. You will find this in PC’s motherboards only.
A 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC with octa-core is the nerve which gives power to the handset for making it performance beast. Its 2GB RAM and 2000mAh battery are few other specifications of this smartphone. The extra power to make the device alive is granted by VOOC rapid charging feature which is also available in another newly launched Oppo N3. Although, it disappoints at some places like no slot for microSD card, only one built-in storage variant i.e. 16GB and no headphone connector. You will have to satisfy with bundled micro-USB adapter or Bluetooth.
Company had worked for months to craft the thinnest device with stunning camera hardware and camera features. And, the efforts have well-turned into fine shape with 13MP rear shooter and 5MP front-facing snapper, having f/2.0 aperture for both. Customize the pictures can also be done by this smartphone using new camera apps. Simply install requisite features as plug-ins and take the benefit of each to make the pictures fantabulously perfect. As in, for super detailed 64-megapixel images, you will have to install "HD Picture". Some more in the list are Slow Shutter, Beautify, Professional, Super Macro, GIF mode and many more.
Oppo R5 comes with Color OS 2.0 on top of the Android 4.4 KitKat OS which will definitely improve the presentation of UI with some new and special features. Opening apps direct from the launch screen could be done by drawing gestures. Draw "circle" to open the camera, draw "V" to turn on the flashlight and draw "W" to open the WeChat. Company will also be offering an O-Music Bluetooth clip as optional accessory for headphones and camera functionalities.
It will be priced at $499 and come in silver, gold and grey color options. However, the price seems high for this handset and it may exceed when Company will plan to ship this device for India. It is also said that it will hit the stores of global market in December.
