As expected, Xiaomi the Chinese manufacturer has launched a trio of smartphones in Redmi 6 series namely Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro on 5th September in the Indian market.
Among the three smartphones, two of them Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro will be available at Amazon India whereas Redmi 6 will be available at Flipkart.
As expected, Xiaomi has unveiled the price of Redmi 6 series at the formal launch event in India. The most premium Redmi Pro variant features a notch on the top of the display with an option to hide it, whereas the notch is not available in Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A
In India, the Redmi 6, 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM have been priced at Rs 7,999 and Rs 9,499 respectively. The deliveries of Redmi 6A will start from 10th September 2018 at Flipkart and Mi.com.
The Redmi 6A comes with a price tag of Rs 5,999 for the base 2GB RAM+16GB internal storage configuration, whereas the 2GB RAM+32GB variant is retailing at Rs 6,999. The Redmi 6A will go on sale from 19th September 2018 via flash at Amazon India and Mi.com.
Lastly, the premium Redmi 6 Pro, base 3GB RAM+ 32GB internal storage variant comes with Rs 10,999 whereas the 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM variant costs Rs 12,999. It will be available for purchase from 11th September 2018 in flash sale at Amazon India and Mi.com. HDFC Bank credit or debit card holders will get an additional discount of Rs 500 on the purchase of Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro variants.
It must be noted that the aforementioned prices of all three variants of Redmi 6 series are introductory and valid for two months might be revised by the company in the near future if in case fall in Indian rupee against the dollar.
Both, Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are identical to each other in terms of specifications excluding camera, hardware, RAM and internal storage configuration. Both have a 5.45-inch HD+ display which offers with 18:9 aspect ratio and 720x1440 pixels resolution.
In terms of hardware, the Redmi 6 is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, while the Redmi 6A is embedded with quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. For storing content, the Redmi 6 comes with 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32GB/ 64GB internal storage.
On another hand, the Redmi 6A is equipped with 2GB RAM and 16GB/ 32GB internal storage configuration. Both, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A come with an option to further extend the storage capacity up to 256GB by using a microSD card.
In terms of camera department, the Redmi 6 features a horizontally positioned rear cameras which consist of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor featuring an aperture of f/2.2 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and certain AI beautification capabilities.
For selfies and video calling, the Redmi 6 boasts 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with features such as AI-powered capabilities, f/2.2 aperture and 1.12-micron pixels.
On another hand, the Redmi 6A features a single 13-megapixel rear camera featuring PDAF and an aperture of f/2.2. Up front, the smartphone gets a 5-megapixel camera selfie snapper.
The remaining specifications of both smartphones are similar which includes 5MP front-facing camera, 3,000mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box skinned with MIUI 9.6. Furthermore, both smartphones support 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, dual- sim (nano), micro SD card and a 3.5 headphone jack.
It measures 147.5x71.5 x 8.3mm and weighs 145 grams. The Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue color options.
As the name implies, the Redmi 6 Pro will be the premium variant among all three Redmi 6 series smartphones. It bears a 5.84-inch full HD+ display which offers 1080x2280 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. It has a notch on top of the display which houses selfie snapper, earpiece and proximity sensor.
Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2GHz coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage configuration.
The Redmi 6 Pro has dual cameras on the rear panel consisting of 12-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture lens of f/2.2 and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on top of the line Android 8.1 Oreo layered with the company owned MIUI 9.6.
The connectivity options on the Redmi 6 Pro include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone has the fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, infrared, and a proximity sensor.
The Redmi 6 Pro is armed with a 4,000mAh battery. It measures and weighs 149.33x71.68x8.75mm and 178 grams respectively. It is available in four color options including Red, Black, Gold, and Blue.
